Sprinter Luxolo Adams says he is looking forward to participating at the Sumer Games in Paris this year. Adams is a specialist 200m speed merchant with a personal best of 19.82 seconds recorded at the Paris Diamond League meet in 2022.

Adams says one of his proudest moments in his running career was when he defeated Canadian sprint star, Andre De Grasse at the Paris Diamond League.

Adams is part of the Bidvest Operation Excellence (Bidvest OPEX) programme aimed at providing South African athletes with the resources they need to excel. Last year, Adams found himself stranded in Europe with an injury he could not shake off. The Bidvest OPEX programme ensured that he received the medical support he needed, guaranteed that he could make his way back home and also that he is able to continue his journey of rehabilitation.

“I am grateful to Bidvest OPEX for the support the programme provided. I would not be where I am, ready and looking forward to racing in Paris in a few weeks had it not been for the help I received”.

He adds that he and the South African sprint team, which is coached by Paul Gorries, have been hard at work in camp working on baton exchanges for the 4 x 100 m relays.

Adams says he is confident that the Bidvest OPEX programme will help athletes from the various codes prepare for their respective championships. It will help us raise our performances and hopefully make our country proud in international competitions, he concluded.
